Facebook Drama

Oh, Facebook. Social Media. You're both an enormous blessing and a massive, ugly curse.

Sometimes, okay...all the time, I wish we could go back to a world free of Facebook.

I'm a Facebooker who posts a status update about once a day or so. I don't document every step of every day, check in at every location, or share crazy pictures of things I snap as my day progresses. I don't play games, except for the occasional Words With Friends because J begs me to. None the less, my completely harmless, no hidden meaning Facebook statuses are causing drama. I'm not a fan of posting something about playing nurse, baking cheesecake, and drinking wine and 5 minutes later...someone's phone is ringing and someone on the other end asks said person if they've seen my status. REALLY? I mean literally, cheesecake, wine, and playing nurse constitutes a reason to bring it up in a phone conversation? Then I get to hear about it from a certain someone once the phone is hung up. REALLY?????

Nothing annoys me more than when people try to tell you how you should and should not be living your life and something as insignificant as Facebook is ridiculous. It's just not that important. I'm not into it.

SO...I did the most amazing thing in the universe and put about 80% of my friends list into an "Acquaintance" list. Now, everything I post I can choose to show them or choose not to. Drama problem solved. Love it.

  1. I have struggled with deleting my FB account for months now and don't really spend any time on there anymore, but I have to ask - is this "acquaintance" thing for real?! Because if it is, you're right! Problem solved! :)

  2. Angie ~ Yes! It really does work! I tested out a status update and 25 people liked it, and not one of my snitches on the acquaintance list!

  3. I deleted my facebook account two years ago. I went back to keeping in contact via real life, tele, or e~mail. My hubby has a high profile life and the amount of SNOOPS about my life was rediculous. Don't miss it one little bit! If someone important wants me, they get ahold of me. I find all "that," social media business a bunch of bunk! I adore reading blogs and that's as techy as I get. Works for me.
