We are a "family" of anxiety ridden folk around here.
My dog, Piper Annabelle, started this uncontrollable shaking, crying, and panting the second we moved into Romeo's place. She's fine roaming around during the day, comfortable as can be. Once she is gated in the bathroom or laundry room, all hell breaks loose. It has been like having a newborn baby around here 24/7. Sleepless nights, extra stress, and just overall annoyance.
I took her to the vet where they diagnosed her with separation anxiety. REALLY? This dog has been gated up for 12 hours a day back when I was working in Charlotte without issue. Why here? Why now?
I'm blaming it on her love affair with Romeo. Seriously, she loves him WAY more than me...and he might as well.
So now, not only do Romeo & I take Xanax when needed, my dog has an RX now too. Awesome. A household FULL of anxiety ridden creatures.
The vet also suggested this thing called D.A.P. which is known as the Dog Appeasing Pheromone Supposedly, it's something similar to what is released by a mommy dog after she has her puppies and soothes and calms your dog. We'll see. I ordered one and pray to GOD it works, because we can't keep her on doggie xanax forever.
Has anyone else had this problem???
Aw, poor Piper. I'm heart is breaking for her :(
