Royal Wedding Recap

So, the day has come and gone and yet I'm still ecstatically fascinated with this wedding. As I type this blog entry, I'm re-watching the ceremony on my DVR. I did get up at 5am and head to the Candlelight Lounge on our boat to watch the ceremony. Myself, my roomie, and only about 12 others out of the 2,000 on our ship. LOL. It was just so dang magical and happy. I'm a sap, a romantic, and I love weddings. I adored Princess Diana and always dreamed of one day being in Catherine's shoes. Here's my little recap of the grand day...

OMG THE DRESS! I must start with this since it was the most anticipated. I had heard she felt inspired by Grace Kelly and she channeled her beautifully. I just LOVED her choice. It amazes me that Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen was whispered about so much. It was kept such a secret, but in the end, most everyone's premonitions were correct. She just looked stunning. I can't believe she did her own makeup! Her hair was gorgeous as always. I'd love to know who keeps it looking so amazing. The veil was delicate and beautiful. Like a whisper of silk.

PIPPA! She looked incredible too. I would absolutely wear this dress at any important social function. So stunning. It was also designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. Some people spoke about how "odd" it was she also wore white. I think it fit the scenario well. She had no other attendants besides the children and her sister is the closest person to her.

God save the queen, but I don't really love her ensemble. I would have loved to see her in a royal and fashionable blue. It was just too striking for me. I know she's supposed to stand out, but I just didn't like it. The others watching the ceremony with me didn't like it either.

I wasn't too sure about William's choice of ensemble. He had several different options and I think it was regal and stunning, but I would have been curious to see him in his RAF uniform. PS. Can you believe Kate is now an official military spouse??? ;-)

Oh, Posh & Becks. How freaking handsome and classic did he look? She wore one of her own designs. Love.

And this is my WTF moment of the day. Is she serious? I don't know what to say. Why is she so bug eyed? I didn't realize this girl had such MASSIVE eyes. Ugh. Princess Beatrice. Girlfriend. Bad choice.

And did you all catch the Duchess of Cambridge's second gown later in the evening?
Another pretty Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen creation. She's so skinny!!!

So, all in all it was such a happy day. Everyone seemed elated, Kate looked beautiful, and William looked relaxed and ecstatic. What an amazing story. A commoner marries the Prince of Wales, second in line to the throne, and becomes a Duchess. Someday, she may be Queen! What did you all think? And hey, didn't Prince Harry look extra handsome??? HELLO!

I just love this photo. What a beautiful couple. Best wishes and so much love to The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge!!!

  1. I'm so glad that many of you are posting photos of the Royal Wedding, because I think I'm quite possibly the only person who didn't watch any of it! I agree, Kate's (and her sister's) dresses were gorgeous; then again, they are both stunning, they could donn a burlap sack and still rock it!

I love these two together! And yes, Prince Harry did look pretty dashing. ;)

  2. Oh my gosh, I think angie and I are soul sisters or something because I'm totally thankful for this post because I didn't see any of it. You are the cutest thing ever to do this and fill us in. :)

  3. I agree with you on so many points... Kate's dress was gorgeous! I really wish William had worn a different uniform, I didn't care for the red. I was expecting something more along the lines of what Harry wore. That hat was atrocious!!! It was definitely the WORST one there. By far.

  4. Oh, and the Queen's ensemble. Meh, I didn't care for it either. I just wasn't feeling it.
