A few years ago in Orlando I tried to volunteer with a domestic violence shelter, but never ended up getting through the whole process. I didn't end up following up with it either, which was my fault. None the less, it's always something I've wanted to do and perhaps one day will do something similar to what Halle is doing. You'll see in the video clip, she takes old run down apartments and turns them into amazingly beautiful places for women who are leaving their husbands. Amazing work Halle! We need places like this EVERYWHERE!
When I was in college I volunteered with the YWCA and Domestic Violence victims. I would go with them to court when they had to face their ex-husbands. It was such a great experience for me and I know it really helped them having that extra support.
